Marie Snauwaert

a short film

In this movie by Marie Snauwaert (°1979, Turnhout) a man sits at a high table. The world around him has come to a standstill. Gradually it becomes apparent that the man is able to move the world around him – if only he would take initiative. Marie Snauwaert comments on society here: social commitment pays off. It doesn’t hurt to act, but you need to be willing to cross that threshold. The movie is accompanied by a puzzle. In the puzzle, everything has its place. The audience is invited to put the pieces in their correct place, slowly building up to the puzzle’s completion throughout the duration of the exhibition. The exhibition documents the process, as every individual visitor takes up their responsibility and contributes to something bigger.
