EXPEDITION
EXPEDITION are 3 performances by two separate artists in a one hour session.
Evaporated Landscapes (Mette Ingvarsten)
With evaporated landscapes Mette Ingvartsen creates an artificial world that behaves according to rules of evaporation, dissolution and transformation. Departing from ephemeral materials and matters like light, sound, bubbles and foam the performance constructs landscapes of various kinds.
In Evaporated Landscapes choreography no longer belongs to the organization of bodies and their movements in space. Rather choreography is understood to be the relationship that operates between the ephemeral elements, as they magically float and dissolve into space. The movements that appear do not only show up in space but also within the bodies of the spectators due to the sensations and perceptions they encounter throughout the performance.
Petals (Kaija Saariaho) + Foris (Raphael Cendo), played by Arne Deforce
The music pieces "Foris" (2012) of Raphael Cendo and "Petals" of Kaija Saariaho (1988) reflect the fact that a sound world of untapped potential between the physicality of playing, technology and extended notations can be further developed in a collaborative project between composer and performer. These pieces will be played by renowned cellist Arne Deforce who as a musician and researcher, is fascinated on how, at the intersection between music, art, science and technology, new concepts and relationships in music can be developed between the instrument, musical gesture and electronics.
Expeditie consists out of 3 seperate performances and has an overall duration of 60 minutes.
